Chirp Interactive Jumps on thePlatform

Broadband video publisher thePlatform have bought social media company Chirp Interactive. Chirp built applications for Twitter and Facebook, and produced the Chirpscreen tool that is a interactive screensaver bringing in content from Facebook and Twitter.

“Chirp’s team has proven expertise in designing rich media applications that integrate with social networking sites, and we look forward to leveraging their team’s talent to enhance online video services for our customers,” said Ian Blaine, CEO and co-founder of thePlatform. “As the market for online video continues to grow, we’re also pleased to begin a more concerted effort in the Bay Area to draw upon the region’s immense technical talent.”

While thePlatform disclosed that it will not continue Chirp’s services moving forward, the company said that it will build new community and content discovery features into its media publishing system, leveraging the expertise of Chirp’s core product development team, basically forget your stuff lads, here work on ours instead.
