Tweetmeme lives again

Tweetmeme is back!. with the recent purchase by Twitter of Summize they are back online and taking advantage of some of the abilities that the deal brings with the hope to drop back to the XMPP once the reliability issues have been smoothed out. During the downtime they have put in a lot of development work, some of which is not live yet due to some coding issues.
Some of the new features include an improved interface, taking some of the code from fav.or.it twitter links including images or videos will now display thumbnails. They have also updated the ranking system for incoming links
Although ranking based upon the number of URL’s is interesting we wanted to take the concept a little further, so took the reddit model and introduced a ‘kudos’ factor for each twitter user, their ‘kudos’ increases for every story they are the first to post (and that then subsequently gets elevated onto the top stories). The kudos is then used to rank stories themselves, so a user with a higher kudos has more chance of getting a story promoted.
They will also be looking somewhere down the line to integrate some of the other micro blogging platforms such as Plurk and Identi.ca, so that as people swap between services the overall number of URL’s and tweets will continue to rise.
