12Seconds, the video microblogging site in private alpha that lets you record up to 12 seconds of video have today announced on their blog that they have opened up the API;
We truly want to be the platform for video status and there’s no better way to do that then to allow other services to integrate 12seconds seamlessly. If you think 12seconds can be the video platform for your service, we’re excited to work with you. So please go play with our initial API and find a new way to extend, advance, change, modify, tweak, enhance, engage or otherwise adapt our service, we’d love it.
Several companies have already had access to the API and they have already made announcements on their own blogs, some of the first companies to use the 12seconds API are;
TweetDeck, this Adobe Air client for services like Twitter has used the API to follow 12seconds channels and play videos right in the client. You don’t even have to be a registered 12seconds user to enjoy 12seconds on TweetDeck. If you are currently using Tweetdeck you just need to update to the latest version to get this going.
Blippr, the micro review site has integrated 12seconds into their product to allow users to record a 12second video review in tandem with (or instead of) a 160 character text review. For an invite to the 12seconds alpha, email blippr@12seconds.tv and they’ll be sure to send you one within the day.
Phreadz, the video conversations site has integrated 12seconds. Need a conversation starter? Import a 12second video directly into Phreadz and let the conversation begin!
These are just three of the companies at the moment and if you are a developer yourself, you can get your hands on the the API here.
