Custom Themes for your Micro Blog

There comes a time in every microbloggers life when they want to re decorate. And to help with the search for the wallpaper here are a list of just some of the sites I’ve found;

Twitter.com

We will start with Twitter first

Twitter Gallery is a new invention and as a result has a small collection for you to pick from at the moment, although they are busy working on lots and lots of new themes.

The site is very easy to navigate and comes with a nice installation guide to get you going

Next up is Twitterpatterns, this is a well designed site and has quite a lot of themes, also for this month they have teamed up with the pink for October campaign, for Breast Cancer Awareness by releasing a special Twitter theme

They have quite a lot of different styles to choose from so go ahead and check them out.

Twittertreats was one of the first websites to offer custom templates for your Twitter page, and are designed by artist Natasha Wescoat.


DEEP GARDEN II Wescoat theme

Her Tree themes are very popular in the Twitter Universe and she has just recently released a new batch of Tree Avatars to accompany them.

If you have a thing for Stars, stripes and all other kinds of geometric shapes and colours then you may want to check out Hip and Twendy. They have a selection of over 300 different themes for your pleasure, and they are all free to download and try

Also while you are there, have a look through the links section you might find some more themes.

TweetStyle is again a new site that started up in early September. They have 1 free theme at the moment, but these people do custom themes at a cost. However if you can’t find anything you like on the open market and want a custom theme then give these people a try.

Plurk

Next we move on to Plurk

Plurk Layouts, Themes, Designs and CSS - We Design For You

Plurk Layouts is a free layouts resource website, that also offers customised layouts for Plurk.

They have a load of cool themes and they are nice people to boot so check them out.

Plurk Templates is a theme site with a Social twist, signup to the site and share you own Plurk creations

You can browse the site plurk style and they have a load of themes to choose from.

Plurk themes is a wordpress blog that collects themes and css code to help you customise your Plurk profile. They currently have 14 themes on the books and a load of helpful how-to’s with some nice little hints and tips.

Plurkocity has a nice collection of themes, if you have a theme you want to share you can do it through here, also if you want a custom theme you can request them here too.

Moving on to Tumblr

Tumblr Themes has a load of nice free custom themes for your tumblr blog.

And with a lot of different layout options this would make a good first stop.

tumblize is a custom theme building site. For $999 they will build you something that looks like this

Although a bit expensive for the everyday user of tumblr if you want to make your tumblr blog your home page and don’t mind paying then these guys look good, check out the portfolio for more themes.

A couple more sites to check out for Tumblr themes would be http://customthemes.tumblr.com/ and http://freethemes.tumblr.com/ they have a lot of styles on these sites and you could find what you are looking for here.
